Mr. Baugh serves as the President and Founder of Northern Sky Research (NSR), which he created in 2000 to provide independent, actionable market research and consulting services to the satellite industry. Mr. Baugh directs all NSR multi-client research reports and single-client consulting projects and manages a global team of analysts that stand at the forefront of satellite industry expertise.
Before forming NSR, Mr. Baugh served as Senior Analyst for Pioneer Consulting where he covered all aspects of the satellite market. Prior to Pioneer, Mr. Baugh was an International Trade Specialist and Economist for the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, DC. While at the Department of Commerce, Mr. Baugh was a recipient of the Charles F. Meissner Memorial Award for his work on trade negotiations in the International Trade Administration.
Mr. Baugh also has extensive legislative and analytical experience from his work for the Committee on International Relations and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, both in the U.S. House of Representatives. Mr. Baugh holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Westminster College and a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University.
Marc BellMarc Bell is the Co-Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Terran Orbital Corporation (NYSE: LLAP), a leading manufacturer of satellites primarily serving the United States and Allied aerospace and defense industries. Terran Orbital provides end-to-end satellite solutions by combining satellite design, production, launch planning, mission operations, and on-orbit support to meet the needs of the most demanding military, civil, and commercial customers.
Bell is an accomplished entrepreneur with a wide-spanning career. In 2008, Bell took a $250 million SPAC public, acquiring startup Armour Residential REIT (NYSE: ARR). Armour today holds over $8 billion worth of mortgage-backed securities in its portfolio. Before Armour, Bell began his career in 1989 as the founder of Globix: The Global Internet Exchange. Globix was an Internet Infrastructure company with over 28,000 miles of fiber and over 1 million square feet of Data Center Space globally.
Bell is an avid Broadway producer with two Tony Award-winning Broadway shows: Grammy Award-winning Jersey Boys (Tony for Best Musical) and Pulitzer Prize- winning August Osage County (Tony for Best Play). His most recent Tony Award-nominated Broadway show was Beetlejuice (Best Musical).
In addition, Bell is a member of the NYU Board of Trustees, NYU Langone Health Board of Overseers, NYU Stern Center for Real Estate Finance Research Advisory Board, NYU Schack Advisory Board and the NYU College of Arts and Science Dean’s Advisory Council. He is also Chairman and Founder of the Boca Raton Police Foundation and serves on the board of SOS Children’s Villages Florida.
Bell holds a Master of Science degree in Real Estate Development and Investment from New York University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Babson College.
Ian Canning joined OneWeb Technologies as Chief Operating Officer in January 2012.
Mr. Canning has more than 30 years’ experience in the global satellite communications and telecommunications industries. In this position, he is responsible for the dayto- day operations of the Company along with leading the development of the innovative solutions OneWeb Technologies brings to market.
Prior to joining OneWeb Technologies, Mr. Canning held many senior management positions for Stratos Global Corp., the leading global provider of advanced mobile and fixed-site remote communications solutions. He was responsible for Stratos’ global product and marketing portfolio, generating more than $700 million from advanced remote communications solutions, including the Stratos Advantage range of value-added services.
Positions held during his tenure at Stratos included Vice President, Global Product Marketing (2010-11), Vice President, Marketing and Product Management (2007-10), Stratos’ Managing Director, EMEA and Vice President, Sales (2004-07), and Director, EMEA and Asia (1999-2001).
In addition, Mr. Canning’s experience includes posts with other leading players in the commercial satellite communications industry. From 2001-03, Mr. Canning served as Director, Business Development EMEA and later as Director, Sales EMEA for Iridium Communications Inc. From 1995-99, Mr. Canning served as Manager, Partnership Program for Inmarsat. From 1983-99, he held senior sales positions with a variety of electronics and telecommunications companies, including Nortel Networks, Motorola Codex, and Racal Datacom.
Mr. Canning earned an MBA from London’s Greenwich School of Management.
Robert CleaveCleave has over 35 years’ experience in the space industry as an engineer, program management and executive leader with profit & loss responsibilities. He has worked nearly every mission area, from rovers on Mars to remote sensing and communication satellites, and from low Earth to Geosynchronous Orbit. Robert has also worked in every segment of the value chain, spanning spacecraft and payloads, launch vehicles and ground systems. He managed over $2B in business development, and successfully delivered secure networking solutions to the US Government, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Japanese government. He managed investment portfolios and made multiple strategic investments into several companies.
Robert continuously seeks to create use cases where space-based networks can be leveraged on earth. In the mid-1990s, he invented a satellite-based machine-to-machine solution which remains in use today, and later was the founder of XTAR, LLC, the worlds’ first satellite operator to exclusively offer communication services at the coveted X-band.
More recently, Cleave has focused on ground-based technologies, and co-founded NewSpace Networks Inc., a software company building highly efficient networking solutions leveraging virtualization and edge computing over satellite-based networks, which was recently sold to SEMPRE.AI. Robert is currently their Chief Operating Officer.
He is also a co-founder of Secure PNT Inc., a company providing advanced digital antenna beam forming technologies for anti-jamming and phased arrays, and is an advisor to several companies, a US national lab, and an international government.
Robert is an angel investor, a prolific author with multiple patents, a TED speaker, and remains active with several non-profits. Robert received multiple awards throughout his career and earned an Aerospace Engineering degree at Arizona State University and a Systems Engineering Certificate from the University of Southern California.
Former COO at Kayser-Threde and former Director of Program Development at EUMETSAT, the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, Clemens has an in-depth knowledge of system engineering and program management for the development of complex operational space-based infrastructures.
Dr. John SpringmannDr. John Springmann is VP of Space at Tomorrow.io, where he is responsible for the development of its space program and radar products. He completed his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan and has played key roles in the development of space weather CubeSats, commercial remote sensing constellations, and general-purpose spacecraft.
Previously, he was Chief Engineer at BlackSky Global (2014-2018), where he was responsible for the spacecraft development, operations, and overall constellation architecture. As an independent consultant, he was instrumental in the development of the Photon satellite at Rocket Lab (2018-2020). His expertise is in space mission design, spacecraft systems engineering, and technical program execution.
